Placer County Superior Court DUI Jurisdiction
All DUI arrests in the county or cities located within Placer County will be handled by the Placer County Superior Court. This includes DUI arrests in the cities of Auburn, Colfax, Lincoln, Roseville, Rocklin, Loomis and the communities of Alpine Meadows, Alta, Applegate, Bowman, Carnelian Bay, Dutch Flat, Emigrant Gap, Foresthill, Gold Run, Granite Bay, Homewood, Iowa Hill, Kings Beach, Meadow Vista, Newcastle, Olympic Valley, Penryn, Sheridan, Tahoe City, Tahoe Vista, Weimar
Placer County Superior Court DUI Court Process
All DUI cases are handled through the Placer County Superior Court. Because of the volume of DUI cases, Placer County Superior Court has a specific department that handles all DUI cases. Arraignments are handled in Dept. 44. All pretrial court appearances are handled in Dept. 33 for all misdemeanor and felony DUI’s.
Placer DUI Court Specific Issues
On high blood alcohol cases, 2nd or 3rd offenses, the DA will request and the court will usually impose terms of release on your first court date. These include weekly self-help meetings, SCRAM monitoring, supervised release, alcohol and drug testing, and in the most serious cases gps electronic monitoring. On second and third offenses, the sentence will include substantial jail time. On most second or third offense cases you will be placed on formal supervised probation even on misdemeanors. On 2nd and 3rd offense violation of probation cases you may be put in custody on a no bail hold.
